It's been awhile

Hello!

I apologize for the absence, but I also don't want to draw attention to it too much because I'm not quite sure what use there is for that!

I'm going through a weird transition right now with this blog. On the one hand, I am still interested in predominantly Asian Beauty, but on the other hand, my interests are diverging away towards larger topics. Does it make sense to try to mesh somewhat disparate topics all into one blog? At the same time, I don't know if it makes sense to separate into two.

It's funny to go through a transition when I've been mostly absent with this blog. I had very high aspirations, but perhaps I shouldn't have started it the summer before graduate school :P I was anticipating a bit more free time, but also didn't realize how involved I'd be. I am super grateful for it all, but I do miss writing/blogging.

As I write that out, I realize that it doesn't make sense to mesh it all into one blog. Well, it does, but it would be the most uncategorizable "lifestyle" blog ever.

I might just go with that, and I hope you all don't mind the weird topics that get interjected into this blog as I [very, very] slowly move forward with it all. Maybe later down the line I'll brand it all better. But for now, I'm more interested in just continuing to blog and write. I only hope that the material I share is somewhat of interest and of use to everyone :)

Side note: I will say that one thing that will most definitely change is the length of my posts. I am aiming on keeping my reviews a bit more editorial and short. I'm trying to be better at keeping things "to the point" instead of a very long narrative. I am of the firm belief that things be succinct and engaging while still informative. Let's see how that goes!

Updates + Reflecting on a month of travel

Hello friends! I am back from a month of traveling + whatever amount of time it has taken me to settle in to my new home for the next two years! My hiatus is over, and I am revving up to get back into writing and the blogosphere in general! My goal is to be able to stick to posting at least once a week - Fun Fact Fridays may be happening less routinely, sadly :( - but we shall see how grad school life treats me as I ease into it more.

I just wanted to take a quick minute to reflect on my past month or so, from the items I packed and whether they were sufficient, to traveling alone (mostly). I promise it won't take too long!

An update & hiatus

By the time this post goes live, I will be sitting at the airport waiting for my flight to the US of A! The day is finally here when I get to not only travel to visit family and friends for a month, but also begin my journey to grad school!

How calm and composed I am at the thought of my upcoming reunions and new beginnings (I am essentially all of these corgis combined)

I'll be traveling leisurely about the US for the next month before settling into my new midwest home for the next two years. As such, posts will be a bit fewer and farther in-between (I have 2-3 scheduled from now until September. There's one for next Tuesday, so stay tuned!). I'll try to keep up with Fun Fact Fridays, but no guarantees ! I'll be spending a week each in four different cities, so I might try to do FFF updates with pictures from my wanderings, shenanigans, and discoveries instead of web articles and posts. I'll definitely be Instagramming my journeys and happenings, so be sure to follow me @howdoithai!

If you're in Boston, Los Angeles, New York City, and/or Seattle and see a super confused Asian girl with hair that looks like it's possessed by lions roaming about, there is a slightly higher than usual chance that it's me.

Also, if you have any suggestions for what to do in any of the aforementioned cities, let me know, especially for LA and Seattle! So excited to see old friends and explore new places :)

Things will be back to normal(ish) by September. It'll be even more exciting then, because I will be settling somewhere new, and my no-skincare buy will be over! I'll have new goodies and pretties to test, and hopefully I will be able to keep up with this blog while I go through grad school!
