4 Thai beauty and fashion brands to check out

First of all, happy 2016!  May it be filled with your accomplishments, whether big or small!

So... my last post was a complete lie *sheepish grin* I apologize!  I cannot guarantee a regular posting schedule, but I really do want to keep up blogging because I enjoy it.  Hopefully it'll be a bit more often than the radio silence between September and now (I am aiming for at least one post every month - that's somewhat achievable, right?).  I am significantly more active on Instagram, so do check me out there :)

Now that I'm back home in Thailand for a bit (yay!), I decided to highlight some Thai brands that might be worth checking out if you're ever in this neck of the woods!

Gla Nature

"Gla" in Thai means "brave, daring".

Currently, their line up consists of body care and hair care products: body washes, body lotions, shampoo, and conditioner.  All their products are organic.

When I visited them, I ended up picking up three of their products:
  1. Skin Source Rejuvenating Lemongrass and Mangosteen Body Lotion with Evening Primrose (sample size)
  2. Mangosteen and Sunflower Oil Skin Pampering Body Lotion
  3. Rice Bran Oil Nurturing Lip Cream with Aloe Vera
I absolutely adore the mangosteen body lotion (mostly since I love mangosteen but still...).  I really enjoyed using the lip cream as well, until it went bad while in storage during my move over to the US :\ I don't know if it actually went bad per se, but it definitely started smelling funky when applied to my lips, so I stopped using it.

I had the opportunity to chat with the owner/creator of this brand when I was at their new physical store/boutique at Central World back in July.  He said that the brand has been around awhile, but mostly sent their products to clients overseas in Japan, the UK, and the US.  They have only just set-up their store in Thailand, and are selling their products to Thai customers for the first time.

I inquired further where in the US they sold, but he said he didn't know, as he sold them to small, independent distributors.

They do have a website/Facebook page, but it's mostly in Thai.  If you post a question to them in English though, they will respond in English, so any questions can be directed to them if necessary :)

Magique

Start ~5:50 into the video!

I have to thank a fellow Redditor for introducing me to this brand.  I had never heard of Magique until she reached out to me asking me to pick up some makeup brushes for her, since she noticed I was based in Thailand.

Magique is a brand that seems most famous for their makeup brushes and tools.  Pony of the Pony's Makeup fame (YouTubeInstagram) apparently mentioned that this brush was one of her favorites in her Makeup Brush Special video.  I accidentally ran into the physical store not too long ago and played around with their brushes. They are really soft and well-made, and the price tag is in between Real Techniques prices and Sigma prices ie. rather reasonable for the quality!

You can find their physical shop at Platinum Shopping Mall in Bangkok.  They have a website, which is all in Thai, but you can still navigate it since their product items are listed in English.  I'm not sure if they ship internationally, though :\

Pomelo

Pomelo is a clothing brand based in Thailand, but takes style cues from South Korean fashion.  Small point of pride: the people who started this clothing brand are from my alma mater :D  One of the co-creators of the brand gave a talk at an alumni gathering here in Thailand almost a year ago, but I didn't start browsing their store until I saw Jenn Im of Clothes Encounters (YouTube, Instagram) sporting some of their stuff.  Funny story: apparently they named their brand Pomelo because they were stuck brainstorming names when they decided to copy Apple and name their brand after a fruit.  They figured pomelo was quite a Thai/Asian fruit, so they stuck with that.

Their style isn't quite up my alley - it's rather new age, and I prefer more classic looks - but I have purchased this top in white from them and I really like it!  I get lots of compliments when I wear it.

I got mine in a size S, which I found was true to size and true to the description listed on the product webpage | Source
Their delivery service was also great: same day delivery, and the delivery guy called me in the morning to inform me when he was going to deliver it to ensure that we'd be able to coordinate having someone home to pick up the package when he did deliver.  The clothing came packaged very nicely, and has 365 day returns if you don't cut off the tag.

You can check out their website here*!  It's really easy to navigate their website, plus the information they provide for each item is detailed and really helpful.  They also deliver internationally, so check them out if you're interested :)

*Disclaimer: Although I am not sponsored by Pomelo in any way, shape, or form, that link is a referral link, so if you click it and purchase something, I may get store credit from it.

Siam Botanicals

Some oils for purchase on their website.

I discovered Siam Botanicals while browsing around the Bangkok Farmers Market in early 2015.  They are a natural botanicals skincare product line based in Thailand with a whole range of products based on natural plant oils, predominantly.  I believe they are mostly known for their skincare/face products, particularly their serums.  I only purchased their oils, such as their 100% Rose Hip oil, but my friend bought some of their serums and really liked it.

When I spoke to the sales associate there, she said that their products are more popular with visitors from China and Hong Kong than they are with people in Thailand.  I guess the trend hasn't quite caught on here yet!

If you want to check out any of their products, they have a website, which you can find here!

Think you'll check out any of these brands or products?  Have you tried any of these brands?  If so, which ones?

  16. Compelling article! Apprecite it. For the people who are living in Korea, purchasing Korean products items isn't an issue. That doesn't mean on the off chance that you are not living in Korea, you can't get benefits from them.

Korea has started new trends in cosmetics and skincare items. Toward the beginning, there were relatively few brands to look over. But, presently, there are a few distinctive Korean brands and their items are accessible at nearly every other neighbourhood store. If you are a cosmetics junkie or are extremely conscientious about your skincare regimen, this is a fantastic opportunity for you.
